📣 Don’t let imposter syndrome stop you.

Many clients I speak with feel that they are not good enough to run their own webinar.

Today, I have a really interesting statement top discuss: Don't let imposter syndrome stop you.

Many of my clients, feel like they're just not good enough to run their own online events, such as webinars, and yet in a recent survey by Eventbrite 71% of participants said that they will continue to attend online events after the COVID lockdown is finished. So now really is the time for you to get on the front foot and don't let imposter syndrome stop you from delivering great content through webinars.

So to help you, I thought I'd cover 5 tips to get you started and get you on your way:

1: Attend some webinars

Go on attend some webinars. And when you attend them, keep a focus on the whole process. Think about what the promotion process was like. Think about what the presentation was like and check out the follow-up for the webinar.

So, tip number one is to attend a few webinars and look at them critically. Think about what you like and what could be done better.

2: Think about your topic

Think about your topic. What is it that you're going to present your webinar on?

Now here are a few simple ways to identify a great topic for your audience. Number one would be FAQ’s, what are some frequently asked questions that you get from your clients all the time? These form a great option for your topic. Another way to do this is to use Polls - put some polls up on Facebook; in Facebook groups that your audience is part of and ask them what would be a good topic for your webinar. Alternatively, put out a survey to your database. Especially if you've got a good database of your ideal clients, send out a survey and ask them what it is that they're looking for, or potentially what it is that's lacking for them right now. These 3 ideas can help you choose the perfect topic for your webinar.

3: Promote Your Webinars

Promotion. So now that we've attended a few events and we've selected a topic, let’s discuss how to drive our promotion. Let's start off with the simple tools, head over to Humanitix or to Eventbrite and just follow their process. They make it really easy for you to set up your event ticket, set up your event online and integrate with Zoom. Zoom, is a great option. We all know how to use it. It's something that we've been on for meetings. And even though we feel zoomed out, our audience also knows how to use it. So utilise Zoom, Zoom integrates really well into Eventbrite, and then use the social media channels that enable us to post our events.

Social Media such as Facebook events and LinkedIn events enable you to put your event up on the social media platform. This will really support you in the process of promoting your webinars.

Now that we've attended some events, we’ve selected our topic, we've started our promotion, either through Eventbrite or Humanitix and through our social media platforms and sent out some emails to our database. We are ready to create webinar content.

4: Create Your Content

Content. We are now able to create our content. This is a section where a lot of people get stuck - in the content creation phase.

Now, when we think about content, we need to think about Inspiration, Information, and Motivation. So first and foremost, we need to inspire our audience. How can we inspire them? We inspire them by talking about what's in it for them, really understanding them and giving them the inspiration to achieve results.

Then we can share Information. We can share information about ourselves, who we are and why we're the best person to deliver the webinar. We can share information and educational content about the topic.

And finally, Motivation. Motivate our audience to take the next step, motivate them with a call to action.

5: Just Do It

Be like Nike. Just Do It. We're only gonna get better. In running our first online webinar, we’re going to learn a lot.

We’re going to experience some successes and some failures, or as I like to call them learnings. But realistically be like Nike and just do it.

Conclusion

So these are my five tips. Don't let imposter syndrome get in the way. Don't think that you're not good enough. You are the best person to deliver your content. And there are people out there right now who need you.

So don't let imposter syndrome get in the way.
