π£ 5 Basic Steps To Promote Your Successful Webinar
If you are just starting to plan your webinar here is a list of things you MUST sort out BEFORE you are ready to launch your webinar campaign.
Now the basics include the purpose for our webinar, the webinar logistics, our speakers, the webinar communication content and the graphics. So we're going to cover 5 of the basics that we must set up before we promote our webinars.
5 Things you must complete BEFORE creating and promoting your webinar:
1. Webinar Purpose
What is the purpose of this webinar for you in your business?
I ask all my clients this question and, 95% of the time, the answer is the purpose of the webinar for the attendees. NOT for the business. And, whilst it's really important to have clarity over the outcome for our audience, first and foremost, we must have clarity over the purpose of this webinar for us in our business.
Now, the purpose of this webinar could be something like brand awareness. It could be list building or lead generation it could be positioning ourselves as an expert, or it could be sales. But until such time that we've identified the purpose, it's really difficult to set up goals and to set up our KPIs. Plus the purpose will dictate who our audience is, and it will also dictate the CTA or the call-to-action. Now, the call-to-action is the single most important part of our webinar and getting this right depends very much on the purpose of the webinar for us in our business.
2. Webinar Logistics
Now that we've got an idea of what the purpose is, then we can look at the logistics, without these, we can't run a webinar.
These are things like the date and time of our webinar. This will depend on the purpose, who our audience is and what we'd like the outcome to be. Also, whether it's a paid event or a free event, how much will this webinar cost? And finally, what platform are we going to be using? Is it Zoom? Is it WebEx? Or are we running this webinar directly on LinkedIn or directly on our Facebook group? There are many options, but all of these logistical ideas must be set up before we promote our webinar.
Once we know the time and the date and the platform, we can now start to engage our speakers.
3. Webinar Speakers/Facilitators/Presenters
Let's think about our webinar presenter, speaker, facilitator, and identify who those people are. Then get in touch with those people and get the right information from them.
Now, that person might be yourself, but we still need to get the right information.
Headshot: we need a headshot or a beautiful photo of the person's face.
Bio: We need a short bio 150 - 300 words
Outcomes: An overview of the topic and the top three outcomes for the topic or the keynote that the speaker will be presenting. Having these top three outcomes will really support our promotional activity further down the line.
A little tip on the outcomes; These outcomes must be specifically for our audience. This is where we CAN talk about the purpose of the webinar for our audience. What are the top three outcomes that our audience will gain from attending our webinar and listening to the speaker or the presenter, (even if that's you).
Now that we've got our purpose, our logistics, our speakers, let's talk about our webinar communication strategy
4. Webinar Communication Content
We start the name for our webinar. What is going to be engaging and exciting for our audience?
Then we need a webinar description, a perfect event description outlining the event vision, event mission, and event intention. (if you are looking for more information on that, check out the blog on annaosherov.com.)
Once we've got our description, we need to have information about the organiser. Maybe that's yourself. Maybe that's your company, or maybe that is somebody else, but we need information about the organiser and we need some testimonials. Source past testimonials, even if you haven't run this particular webinar before, get some testimonials of what it's like to be working with you or something similar. What are people saying about you or your previous events or the previous work they've done with you?
That is the communication content we need to have ready before we work towards our promotion strategy and finally the graphic.
5. Webinar Graphic
Choose an image that's going to appeal to your audience and really represent your brand, your business and yourself.
Create that initial main key graphic in something like Canva, and then repurpose that graphic for your social media posts, for your social media headers, for your ticketing link, like the Eventbrite header, and for things like MeetUp or other avenues you might use, maybe your email header, etcetera. Make sure that youβve got your graphic pre-created and then resized for the different mediums that you intended to use.
The Conclusion
So there you have it. There are 5 basics that we must set up before we promote our webinars, the purpose, the logistics, the speaker, presenter, facilitator, the webinar comms, content, and our graphics. So I trust this is going to get you well on your way to planning your next webinar.
