📣 7 Unique Types Of Social Media Posts That Get The Greatest Engagement
As you scroll through the endless social posts that appear on your newsfeed, do you ever stop and wonder why some gain your attention while others are lost in the never-ending sea of the dreaded doom scroll?
I have been focusing on upgrading the social media posts that we are sharing. To do this I have been taking notes of the specific types of posts that get the greatest engagement, not just from me.
7 Unique Types Of Posts That Get The Greatest Engagement.
✨ Words Only On A Coloured Background
These are only Facebook posts (and then you can copy them and use them across to other platforms). But these are the ones that I’m sure you've seen, where the colour of the background is either full colour or it has got some form of a pattern on it and it says something. It is either a question, a statement, or a suggestion. These are the ones that make us stop, look and think. These are also used well within Facebook groups when somebody has got an offer.
So posts like these seem to make people stop, think, and really engage. These seem to be what people are attracted to.
✨ Personal Share Posts With Personal Images
Share posts with a really personal topic. They are usually longer-form, story-style posts that are in the actual copy. And are posted with a really emotional picture. Usually, with images that bring up emotions. Images where people look happy or sad or where something went wrong. This type of post is very much a vulnerable share.
These will have an outcome. These tend to get the greatest engagement. People love to see what people do with their lives or how people live.
✨ Swipe Images
These posts will trigger the algorithm as the audience must do something (swipe) to engage. This engagement shows the platform that others are interested in your posts. The other part of this is that they are actually really engaging and share the information that is valuable. Some of the best examples that I have seen of these are tips and tricks posts. The post will have the title on the first image something like “The Five Things That I Ate Today” and then it will be followed by a picture of each of those five things. Another example is sharing a story such as a customer case study, or it could be a story around some information that is to do with a topic or some research that has been found.
Make sure that these add value and encourage people to swipe across.
✨ Comments, Shares, Saves vs Likes
Comments, shares, and saves are more valuable than just likes. We need to make sure that our call to action encourages people to comment, share and save our posts. So how do we encourage people to interact with our posts? We must make sure that they are fun. They are a little bit different and they are engaging. The best types of posts to encourage this sort of engagement are giveaway and competition style posts where we ask people to tag their friends in order to win. Make sure that the call to action is specific and directive.
✨ Sharing memes
Memes are a girl's best friend! Actually, memes are everyone's best friend. Choose a meme, share it, and make others laugh. Memes have got us through the last couple of years as we have been stuck at home and people still love them. They usually elicit a laugh. They get engagement, they make people happier. So go find some memes and post them. It is a cheap, quick, and easy way to be able to use the content you find and then share it with your audience.
✨ Stories!!!
Make sure that you are part of that continuum and that your story is up there and it is visible. These are really great, short, sharp little bits. They are good to be able to show what's happening in your world. Being able to share both on a personal level and on a business level. Make sure that you are in with the stories. Use them!
✨ Other’s News With Your Own Insights
Instead of just reposting or resharing, something that you have seen or you have read, repost it with your insights. If you see a really great article about something that is relevant to you and can be relevant to your audience, share that article, but share it with a little blurb of your insights or alternatively, some questions that you can pose to your audience.
Conclusion
As the world of social changes, so must we. It seems that gone are the days of well-produced, high-quality posts. People are loving gritty, fun, easy to follow, quick, relatable content. And, if this is what the audience wants, this is what we need to give them!
Next time you’re scrolling through your newsfeed, pay attention to what makes you stop in your tracks. Note the type of post that engaged you and think about what was it that made you pay attention?
