HOW TO IMPROVE EVENTS FOR YOUR BUSINESS GROWTH

Do you want know how to roll out a successful event?

Did you know that to Master Events For Your Business Growth we must learn to roll out one successful event at a time?

Today we are talking about the sixth step in the process for rolling out one successful event at a time. And that step is Improvement. If you haven’t had a chance to catch up here are the previous 5 steps and the links to find them: Clarity, Planning, Promotion, Presentation, Feedback and finally Improvement. Let’s delve into step 6: Improve

4 Areas Of Your Event That You Can Improve

 1. Review Outcomes (did I achieve my purpose)

  • Ticket Sales

  • Marketing Collateral

  • Leads In My Database

  • Sell Into Next Step

  • Team

In order to review outcomes we must first create goals and set a purpose for this event for us in our business. (Download a pre-event success audit)

The main thing we need to ascertain before we even start planning and promoting is: What is the purpose of this event? And, what are we looking to achieve?

Once we have set the goals we are able to review the result. Did we achieve our ticket sales? Did we get the marketing collateral that we wanted to get? Do we have more leads in our database? Did we make sales at our event? Did we convert?

Whilst the above questions can be answered through quantitative research, to really gain insights, it helps doing some qualitative. This can be done through our team and our volunteers. It's really great to brief our team prior to the event. Brief them in on what it is you really looking to gain as an outcome from this event. Then, kindly ask them to let you know if you achieved the brief or if you could somehow improve.

2. Get Feedback

  • From The Attendees

  • From My Team

Get feedback from the attendees and get feedback from your team. We had a really interesting workshop last week and at this workshop, we had some people that were my ideal audience and some people that were probably not my ideal audience. The latter were experienced event curators, they knew what they were doing, and so for them, the content wasn't exactly what they needed.

The interesting thing was that the people who were my ideal audience gave me great feedback. They loved the workshop, they loved the presentation style, and they loved what they learned. The people who weren't in my target market, they actually gave me fantastic feedback because they were looking at the event from a perspective of how I could improve. Now, I've got some great strategies in order to be able to help my events grow. So sometimes it's good having the “wrong” type of audience at your event because they may give you feedback that's going to help you grow.

3. Analytics

  • Event Response

  • Event Attendance

The next thing to review is your analytics. Have a look at your event responses and the event reach through your Google Analytics or through Facebook analytics. Really analyse to see how far did your event reach and what was the response. And also analyse your attendees where they're your ideal audience.

If they weren't, why not and what did you learn from that?

4. Presentation

  • Review recording

  • Did I Connect?

  • Did I Know My Content?

  • Did I Convert?

Our presentation skills can always be improved. So review your presentation, film it, watch it, and then see: Did you connect? Did you get the great content and did you convert?

In summary: Review your outcomes, did you set the purpose of your event for yourself in your business? Did you sell the right amount of tickets? Did you get the marketing collateral, the leads, the sales, et cetera? Get some feedback, get feedback from the attendees and get feedback from your team or a trusted person who in the room to give you some quality feedback. Feedback is great when people say, "you're doing great", it's fantastic for our ego, but what we want is feedback on how we can do better. Check your analytics, check your responses, check your Google Analytics, check your Facebook analytics and analyze your attendees. Finally, review your presentation. Did you connect? Did you give great content and did you convert?
